Anguillavus quadripinnis is a rarely seen member of the Order Angulliformes, Family Angullidae, it is one of the earliest eels. The dorsal and anal fins have been joined to form a fringe running the length of the body; in total with the tiny pectorals, the source of the name quadripinnis (four finned) is apparent. They probably fed on worms, crustaceans, and other small fare. The genus is extinct. 52mm in length from Haqel. |
